Episode 13 of Season 1 is a stream that picks up on Cycle 42, just after the dig beside the steam geyser at the end of Episode 12. Thirteen duplicants are short on power and long on stress. This video is about letting the geyser run, switching on a Fertilizer Maker for its natural gas, and setting up a Natural Gas Generator to burn it, while polluted water spreads where it shouldn't. It ends on Cycle 45 with a fourteenth duplicant printed and most of the colony still stressed.
The geyser runs
The pocket is open now, and the Steam Geyser card reads Venting, Emitting Steam: 666.7 g/s. One filter gets disabled: "let's let the big angry geyser go and let's see if this works." The duplicants nearby have trouble breathing. "It's very stinky here, I know. Alright, run away." Once things settle, a single pump is enough: "it seems like we have enough of a supply of water coming in with just the one pump."
Nisbet lashes out
Stress is the other problem. Nisbet's panel reads Lashing out, with Light Wounds, Interrupted Sleep, Dirty Hands and Tired under it, and the commentary watches as "the person is destroying the... equipment 'cause they're stressed out." A medical bed needs fixing. Someone is on the Massage Table ("Maybe I should build more of those"), so new space gets dug out to expand into. The oxygen overlay looks better than it has in a while: "we're doing good all over the place right now."
Natural gas
"We need to get more power somehow." The answer on the recording is "Natural gas." A Fertilizer Maker that sat disabled is switched back on, and a duplicant has to walk over and flip it: "Oh, they had to run over there and turn it on." Its card then reads Using Polluted Water: 150 g/s, Emitting Fertilizer: 120 g/s, Emitting Natural Gas: 20 g/s.
The Power menu has a Natural Gas Generator. Its card asks for 60 g/s of natural gas through an intake and an output pipe, and lists 800 W of power along with polluted water and carbon dioxide. Another Fertilizer Maker is placed nearby, and a Gas Pump and gas pipes run down to a Gas Filter so "only the natural gas comes out." The generator goes in, waiting on copper ore, and then: "Oh, I have to plug it in."
The Research Station has had no task, so it gets one: "let's do the medbay stuff." Its panel now shows Medbay.
Polluted water everywhere
Polluted water from above is let down into the reservoir, and it comes "pretty quick." It also spills farther than planned: "Didn't really foresee that." A small wall goes up, mopping gets a higher priority, and a Thimble Reed growing in the way is uprooted. Air Deodorizers go in along a polluted stretch, though "it will take them forever to build everything." A second filter for the water line is next.
Then the alert list shows Stress vomiting, and polluted water seems to be all over. "What did you do?" Natural gas has gathered low in the base: "I guess it sinks. I didn't really think it was gonna sink." A floor goes in to keep it contained, and another Water Purifier is placed for the polluted water that has backed up.
Where it ends
Stress is still the worst of it. A Massage Table shows No Wire Connected, and its Breaktime Policy turns out to be "set way wrong," so the threshold comes down to 40. The commentary wants "another person that can do building," and a fourteenth duplicant comes out of the Printing Pod. The last few minutes are spent asking "where's all this polluted water coming from? Maybe it's not enough bathrooms." The stream ends on Cycle 45 with the alerts reading Stress vomiting, Building broken, Circuit Overloaded and Stressed (9).
