Episode 35 of The Witness stays in the greenhouse, where colored glass changes what the panels show. Basket solves the panel that stopped the last video, rides an elevator up through rooms of colored light, and frees a laser on the clifftop. It ends on a jungle path.
Looking through the glass
It opens in the yellow room, facing the panel of green, yellow, blue, pink, red and black squares that ended Episode 34. "Based on the rules we know," the commentary says, it "isn't really solvable," but "if you look at it through this glass here, it's solvable." Drawing it is harder. For about seven minutes lines go around the grid and fail, because one square "is hard to keep with the other yellow." The commentary wants no hints yet: "I like to struggle in the puzzles for a little bit."
A look through a different door gives a new shape: "So I'm going to draw that shape out." Up, around, over and up, and the cable lights. "So maybe the other way wasn't solvable."
Two doors at once
The next panel will not work through the yellow alone, so the commentary tries "looking through the blue door." That fails too: "We have to draw a T through here, which isn't possible." Seen through both doors at once, the line goes in. "Through just this it wasn't right... Crazy."
Sunlight on the roof
A door upstairs opens on an area that is "very, very purple." A small panel there "opens up the wall," and sunlight falls on panels set into a pale roof. One of them will not come out in the light, so the commentary says "let's get rid of the light," and then "this one we can solve without the sunlight." A cable then opens a door onto "a hydroponic slab of weird stuff," a red room with an elevator.
Up the elevator
The elevator has its own panel, and the colored light on each floor changes it: "now the puzzle is actually different, so let's solve it in the new way." It carries Basket into "the very, very blue room," past "stairs that are completely busted," and up to a green floor of plants. There one solve leaves a cable dark: "Oh no, cable's broken." A line the commentary expected to fail sends the elevator up anyway. "I guess I tried something and it worked."
The laser on the cliff
At the top waits "the actual laser shooting box." One more elevator panel is "a quick solve," and "once we figured out the glass colored part, this wasn't too bad." After an orange panel on the clifftop, a yellow box rises out of the flowers, turns, and fires a beam of light past the cliff.
Where it ends
The elevator goes back down, and the walk heads into the jungle, where the commentary remembers "a laser box inside this jungle." A ruin with a statue and a glass case turns up "no puzzle." The video ends on a path toward a building with a red roof, with "here's something we haven't figured out very well," then the end card.
