This stream has two games in it. It opens on the Crystal Cruiser B game from the previous stream, already in Sector 5, the Rock Homeworlds. Then it starts a new game in the Lanius Cruiser, layout A, the Kruos, on Normal. The hangar shows three crew, Stelly, Valeriya and Lisandra, a Chain L. and an Ion Stunner in the weapons bar and Emergency Respirators as the one augmentation. The Kruos makes it to the end of Sector 3, the Mantis Homeworlds, with five crew, and the stream ends there with the ship still flying.
The end of the Crystal Cruiser
The commentary sums it up: "we're pretty hurt we have no money." The Crystal Cruiser takes on a Rock ship, using its teleporter and Lockdown to send crew over to its weapons room. When one Rock ship offers to surrender, Basket turns it down and destroys it instead. At the next beacon a Rock salvage operation intercepts the ship, and with the hull already critical, that fight finishes it. The ship breaks apart, and the game over screen reads "One last explosion marks your fate as your ship is torn apart." with a score of 1850.
Flying without air
Back in the hangar, Basket picks the Lanius Cruiser. The Lanius crew don't need to breathe, and one of the achievements for the B layout is about exactly that. In the commentary's words, "we need to get to sector 8 without your ship net oxygen exceeding 20." So Basket opens the doors everywhere except where the human crew member stays, and the oxygen readout drops to single digits. The other target is having hacking, mind control and a battery running at once. The Kruos already starts with Hacking.
The first try goes badly against a Rebel Rigger, and Basket restarts: "This is a bad start. I might just restart this one."
The second try goes better. Sector 1 is a Civilian Sector. At a burning research station the Kruos docks, takes a little damage and picks up Jones. Hacking the enemy weapons just before they fire becomes the plan for every fight, and it beats the next Rebel Rigger. After a fight with a Pirate Scout, a fifth name, Markus, is on the crew list.
Trying to download data from a Rebel scout wakes up its AI, and the Kruos has to fight it. Searching wreckage in a plasma storm turns up a Hull Missile. Then the route runs out of options ("I should have planned that better"), and the Kruos has to fight an Elite Assault ship near an anti-ship battery, then a second ship blocks the exit. A missile into the enemy weapons room keeps them down long enough to jump, with the hull critical.
One hull point in pirate space
Sector 2 is a Pirate Controlled Sector. An Auto-Hacker attacks, and according to the commentary its hack closes all the doors on the Kruos, which ends the oxygen run: "I lost the achievement." From then on, "can we survive is now the objective." A Pirate Interceptor in an asteroid field surrenders for fuel, a drone part and scrap, and Basket accepts. By the time a store turns up, the hull is down to 1. Basket sells the Hull Missile to pay for repairs. On a planet of small, six-legged, horse-like animals, the crew try to communicate peacefully, and nothing comes of it. Then it is on to the Mantis Homeworlds.
Swarm Missiles in Mantis space
The first Mantis Fighter sends boarders over. The Kruos wins without losing anyone, and the weapons crew member levels up. A Rebel Rigger with a Defense drone is a fight Basket would rather skip, and the Kruos jumps away. At a beacon where a Mantis ship is attacking a civilian, the Kruos fights a Mantis Scout with a teleporting bomb. Winning it adds Swarm Missiles to the weapons bar. "This fire is awesome from this weapon," says the commentary, and against the next Mantis Scout a volley of three missiles takes out its weapons.
Intruders board at a beacon next to a sun. Basket vents the rooms around them. "They're all dead," says the commentary. At the last store, Basket sells something for 25 scrap and buys an Automated Re-loader, then a little fuel. "I have cloning, so... who cares."
How it ended
The Kruos reaches the Sector 3 exit beacon with 2 scrap, too little for the repair station there, and the crew list still shows Stelly, Valeriya, Lisandra, Jones and Markus. The commentary ends the stream there: "Next time we play this one, we will go into the rebel controlled sector." The video stops before the jump.
The game picks up again at the start of the next stream, in Sector 4, a Rebel Controlled Sector. A Rebel Rigger destroys the Kruos there, and the game over screen shows a score of 1246. See Stealth Cruiser B, Lunch Stream, August 5, 2016.
